Winter Trip 2011. 1st Day: Cardiff Central & Cardiff Castle

Peace Be Upon You...

Cardiff was my first stop in the winter strip this year 2011.  I started the journey very early in the morning as the train from Plymouth station leaves at 5.25am off to Bristol Temple Meads station for a change before straight away arriving at Cardiff station. Upon arriving in Cardiff, my first stop was to roam around Cardiff City Center looking for some interesting tourist attractions. I stop at Cardiff Central Square where the train drop us. It is a place where it allocates shop lots and many other business places.
Cardiff Central Square is right in front of Cardiff Central train station.
Cardiff City Center
There are lots of decorative light at Cardiff Central but u won't see the beauty until night arrives
My next stop is Cardiff Castle. Entrance fee to get into the castle is at 9.50 pound with students discount in hand, it is a common price to enter any other places in the UK. The castle is huge but yet to beat the size of Warwick castle that i visited on the third day. The castle is amazing with beautiful view even though it is winter now. The bad thing about visiting places in winter is that u can't see flowers blooming or green lush trees or climbers anymore and the day got shorter, sunlight get damper and obviously it is colder and makes u feel hungry easily too. These are few pictures that i captured around the castle:

The castle located at the center of the hustle and bustle of the city itself, so it is very easy to spot it even from afar. So don't worry coz u will eventually found the grand entrance of the castle near the main road.  U will spot that every road signs or post will have Welsh translation as Cardiff is a city in Wales so everything which is in English will be translated into Welsh and weirdly only 2 percent of 2 million populations in Wales still speaks Welsh.
This is the entrance, right in front of the main road
The good I found about the castle management is that they provide a good amount of space for visitors to leave their luggage before heading to exploring the castle. Maybe they don't want us to be knocking every valuable items in the castle with our big and bulky bags i guess? heheh
Walking around those big compound of the castle sure be tiring in this kinda weather coz its cold and u easily got hungry.

There are lots of interesting rooms and sections to explore in the castle itself. I managed to visit all the places in the castle and the above picture is the library in the castle. Tersangat lah cantik perpustakaan istana dan banyak buku yang semuanya saya tak tahu apa ke bende. Detailing I see as something that they pay extra attention as kesemua tempat @ bilik yg saya masuk penuh dengan dinding yang berbunga dan siling yang penuh ukiran dan lukisan yang cantik sekali.

This is part of the castle dari sudut pandangan bertentangan dengan padang di hadapan istana. Sangat luas dan cantik sekali.

Siling dan chandeliar mewah yang mengasyikkan
Detailings on every glass window..penuh dgn pelbagai lukisan berbeza
Kesimpulannya, the visit to Cardiff Castle was awesome and i can say worth paying the the ticket. But one thing that dissappoints us, the Asian is that some places in the castle we could not take picture of to protect the copyright of the castle i guess but it is okay as there are various other beautiful rooms and sections that u can snap picture of.
