Monsoon season in Kampung Plymouth masih belum reda.Boleh dikatakan setiap pagi hujan akan mencurah tetapi dengan lembut sahaja. Kadang-kadang akan berlarutan sampai ke malam. Because the rain keeps pouring, so most of the time I just be in the house doing nothing, lazying around instead of gobbling anything that I could find the fridge. Since today is so called Valentine's Day for people who believe in it, so I think I might write something related to it. Not many maybe just 2 out of 100 %. Obviously for me Valentines is not something that I normally acknowledge in my life dictionary. Sebab dalam Islam sendiri pun mengharamkan sambutan hari kekasih ni (nak jugak berkasih pada hari tu, hari lain x pulak ye?). Before coming to this Kampung Plymouth, I thought that all English people will celebrate merrily their major festive season. But from what I observed, most of them actually just make believe those celebration. For example Halloween; I thought that every body will be wearing bizarre kind like costumes and go roaming around play trick or treat but what I could actually see on the night of 30th October was an empty sight of neighbourhood, clean, silent and peaceful night as usual. Just 2 or3 youth wearing a simple mask that is annoying enough to get a punch on their face. They don't actually celebrate it as we always seen on tv. It goes the same with their biggest celebration; Christmas. I realised that the atmosphere did slightly changed where almost every house have this small christmas light decoration outside of their house and thats it. Not that gigantic enormously large Christmas trees that you can find when we Malaysians go to Midvalley, KLCC or other major shopping complexes in Msia. Even when I went to Scotland last year,2 days before Christmas, I couldn't find any huge heavily decorated Christmas tree (like in Msia) at the airport whereas it is the international airport of Scotland. It goes the same way when I landed in Memingen airport in Germany a day after Christmas, Christmas tree was no where to be seen. What a shame, even the poeple where the celebration actually founded didn't anticipate as much as we Malaysian did. Apa yang saya nampak ialah they did anticipate the mood of shopping for presents and decorations for their houses but they pay less attention to creating a huge such a waste decorations like the Malaysian did.
And now the so popular Valentine's Day, surely most of the youth in Malaysia did celebrate it (maybe I'm wrong) but it is a common scene in big town like KL where the youth are so engrossed with all this Barat celebration more than the Barat do. What I do find interesting about all these celebration when living in the society that do celebrate it like Kampung Plymouth is the SALE. The sale is going crazily exciting every time it comes to major celebration like this. Not only clothing lines, but supermarket and bookstore did give an offer on their goods. This is the time to shop and save the penny. Masa ni lah saya gunakan untuk pergi membeli barang keperluan rumah seperti makanan, barang dapur, buku2 dan alat tulis sbb semua pon ada diskaun walaupon x banyak. Bagus jugak ambil kesempatan drpd perayaan orang ni ye. Nak tunggu sale Raya Puasa memang x de la jawabnyer. Kite raya pon sambut dekat sekolah sbb x cuti..sob sob.
Chocolate strawberry anyone? |
I did went to ASDA supermarket yesterday and found many goods not in their usual price and grabbed the opportunity lah, macam sayur dan buah and the most important element when people want to celebrate the day; roses! Unlike Msia where the price of roses sky rocketed to even RM 10 sekuntum, I saw that here, thats not the case.
